Campfire Roasted Corn – Easy, Buttery, and Delicious
Campfire roasted corn is one of life’s simplest pleasures — buttery, smoky, and just a little bit charred. It’s easy to do, deeply satisfying, and makes the perfect companion to rustic favourites like Traditional Damper. And if you want a wonderful way to cook whole corn in the oven — even more simply — check out the recipe for Baked Parmesan Crumbed Chicken, which includes this method for corn.

Campfire Roasted Corn
Ingredients
- 4 ears of corn in their husks
- Soft butter for spreading
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Aluminium foil
Instructions
Prepare the Corn
- Peel away and discard the large outer husks, leaving the inner husks attached. Gently pull the inner husks back and remove as much silk as possible.
Add Butter
- Spread the corn generously with soft butter. Add any herbs or seasoning at this stage, if desired.
Wrap for Roasting
- Pull the husks back over the corn. Wrap each cob in aluminium foil, twisting the ends to form handles for turning.
Roast on the Coals
- Place the wrapped corn directly on the coals and roast for about 15 minutes, turning halfway through.
Serve
- Carefully remove from the fire, unwrap, peel back the husks, and serve with extra butter, salt, and pepper.

Notes
- You can add herbs like parsley, thyme, or smoked paprika to the butter for extra flavour.
- Be sure to twist the foil ends to make turning easier and prevent steam from escaping.
- Works just as well over a barbecue or fire pit.
- Not a fan of butter? Use olive oil instead — it’s just as tasty with a drizzle of good oil and a pinch of salt.
